Sep 9, 2009 -
Congressman Aaron Schock (R-IL) issued the following statement following President Barack Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress:
“After a month in our districts, we’ve all heard from the American people who have grave concerns about the Democrat healthcare plan. I’m disappointed the President continued to push for a government option, despite the overwhelming opposition to such a plan by the public.
“While the status quo is unacceptable – we’ve all heard this speech before. What the American people want is a new plan – not a new speech.
“We need a bipartisan plan composed of regulatory reform and increased portability while simultaneously decreasing patient costs and frivolous lawsuits as well as waste, fraud and abuse. Such a plan will expand access to affordable health care and give families the freedom to choose the health care that fits their needs.”
