Dear Friends,
As I have traveled throughout my district recently, the issue of the rising cost of living has been on the forefront of everyone's mind. The increasing cost of food and produce, the continued rising cost of health care and of course, the skyrocketing price of fuel.
There are several reasons that the prices at the pump have been on the rise - turmoil in the Middle East, failure to approve the keystone pipeline, and the lack of a long-term comprehensive domestic energy strategy.
I taped a short video message about my work in Congress to make the U.S. more energy independent. I hope you will take a couple of minutes to watch.
The Bakken Shale and the work being done by Peoria Disposal Co. are great examples of how we should move forward as a country to lessen our dependence on oil and gas from overseas.
The Energy Roadmap offers a legislative path to incorporate the “all-of-the -above” energy strategy we need as a country.
We have all the tools we need available to us; we just need the leadership to start using them. Respectfully,
